Côte 238 – Pech Gentille
A vineyard is made up of plots. And these plots all have their own little secret. A section that gets the right amount of sun and soaks up the right amount of natural water. These areas tend to grow the vines that grow the grapes that lead to wines really worth talking about. The Pech Gentille is an Albarino. Harvested at night, with clarification done at low temperature before ageing. The 238 number is the coordinates for the land it comes from. This is the one secret you’ll want to share.
Albarino doesn’t normally grow in this area. And when you taste the freshness of this drop with its hint of peaches and the slight tang of citrus you’ll really wonder why. The freshness comes from the clarity, both in aroma and taste. There’s nothing expected but it will change your expectations of what an Albarino can be.
Oysters, fresh, Kilpatrick, with a squeeze of lemon. Or any way you like. Actually you can drink it with anything that lives in the sea. By the sea preferably.
