Spring to summer in the vineyard

The vineyards are full of sights and sounds with an abundance of wildflowers which bring insects and birds into the estate. The wild herbs and shrubs are also back and there are lovely scents floating through the vines. This is known as 'garrigue' and adds unique herbal notes, especially to our red wines, giving them that special Languedoc essence.
Wildflowers and grass cover crops are also planted in between our vines, which promotes a healthy soil microbiome, prevents erosion and attracts natural predators of vine pests.
Although we show you a beautiful May morning above, the weather overall was quite wet in April and early May so bud burst was later than expected with the temperatures quite cool at times! Rain does bring a wonderful green splendour to the vineyards and the lake is well stocked for the dry season ahead as a result, which will work to offset potential heatwave conditions in the months ahead.
The grapes will appear soon and then it's full attention to the vineyards for the ripening season. We'll keep you posted of developments.
A bientôt!
