Bringing people together through wine

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a series of Laurent Miquel food and wine pairing dinners in the Netherlands — evenings that reminded us why we do what we do.

These dinners are always about much more than tasting wine. It's much more about bringing people together — around the table, over good food, and through conversation. Each event is an opportunity to share stories, exchange ideas, and rediscover the simple joy of connecting with others.

Guests explored the wines that express the essence of our Languedoc home — from the richly aromatic La Vérité Viognier to the silky Côte 136 St-Chinian Syrah-Grenache. As we discussed the landscape, the balance of tradition and innovation, and the importance of sustainable viticulture, we noticed that phones disappeared, laughter was loud in the room, and strangers became friends. Wine was the catalyst for it all.

Wine is the bridge — the element that links food, people, and place. There was no overindulgence, just energy, conversation, and the unmistakable buzz of human connection. One of the most rewarding moments came at the end of each evening. What starts as a quiet, attentive audience soon transforms into a lively room full of stories, opinions, and shared experiences. That shift — from listening to connecting — is exactly what makes these dinners so meaningful.

We also took time to talk about how wine sometimes finds itself caught in the broader negative narrative around alcohol. But evenings like these remind us that there’s another story to tell — one of balance, culture, and community. When enjoyed responsibly, wine is a positive force: it brings people together, celebrates craftsmanship, and reminds us of the value of slowing down and sharing a meal.

That’s why we continue to host these events across Europe. Not just to showcase our wines, but to share our belief that wine is meant to be experienced, not simply tasted — that every glass tells a story of people, place, and purpose.

Until next time — cheers to enjoying wine as it’s meant to be enjoyed: with food, friends, and good conversation.
