The estate

Auzines is a unique family run estate in the Corbières appellation, Languedoc. Isolated on a rocky plateau at 350 meters altitude, it overlooks the village of Lagrasse in the heart of stunning rugged countryside. The estate is situated between the Alaric Mountains and the Alzou gorge. It is one of the most prestigious Chateaux in the area of Lagrasse.

The name “Auzines” comes from Occitan “little leaves from oak tree”. These little leaves are present in the vineyard right next to wild aromatic plants and flowers that give a unique flavour to the wines.

The discovery

The beauty of the estate, the particular character of the vineyard and, most of all, the great potential of the land, convinced Laurent Miquel, winemaker of the family estate in Cazal Viel, Cessenon sur Orb, to come to Auzines. It is after all Laurent’s objective to produce ever more balanced and elegant wines. With Auzines, he aims to highlight the characteristics of this vineyard and create wines that truly reflect his “know-how” and personality.

More than a vineyard, Auzines will be the cradle of his future family, the cocoon where he will settle with his Irish wife, Neasa. Neasa quickly adopted the Languedoc vineyards and now dedicates herself to developing the export market for the Laurent Miquel wines. Auzines is the place where Laurent’s family will share its passion of the vines to future generations.
