As a winemaking family we pride ourselves on creating authentic wines that reflect the character of our vineyards with elegance. It’s a great joy when our wines, into which we have poured so much hard work and effort, are recognized for their quality.
Our story starts when Laurent’s father, Henri Miquel, bottled his first vintage in 1980. He believed that wines from hillside sites with noble planting would be recognised for their quality and authenticity. He took a leap of faith by planting in the Languedoc at a time when Saint Chinian wasn’t yet recognised as an AOC.

Laurent Miquel AOC Saint-Chinian Larmes des Fées 2016 (Red) : 94/100
“Made from close to 100% Syrah, the 600 case 2016 Saint-Chinian Larmes des Fées appears to be incredible stuff that’s up with the finest St Chinian releases out there. Offering terrific purity in its ripe black and blue fruits, black cherry and spice driven aromatics, it’s fullbodied, voluptuous and decadent on the palate, with sweet tannin. Even at this young age, you can tell it’s loaded with potential.”
Château Cazal Viel AOC Saint-Chinian Vieilles Vignes 2014 (Red): 92/100
Laurent Miquel AOC Saint-Chinian Larmes des Fées 2014 (Red) : 93/100
Laurent Miquel AOC Saint-Chinian Bardou 2014 Grande Cuvée (Red) :92/100
Tamlyn Currin who reviews Languedoc for Jancis Robinson featured Laurent’s wines heavily in her recent roundup on the region. A few years ago now Jancis featured our Viognier Nord Sud as wine of the week and said about us ‘ they offer value with a strong local accent.’
Tamlyn followed this up with the following quote about Laurent’s talent with the fickle Viognier grape
Laurent Miquel, Grande Cuvée Vérité Viognier 2014 IGP Pays d’Oc : 17/20
Made from a single south-facing parcel on the estate. Smoky, cordite, and a hint of burnt butter on baked peach. Stern stuff with a heart of gold. The oak has a presence, some chamomile, but there is so much mid-palate intensity. Needs roast pork with an apple sauce. Excellent. (TC)
Laurent Miquel, Nord Sud Viognier 2015 IGP Pays d’Oc : 16/20
Partially fermented in French oak barrels.
Toasted-hazelnuts nose. Full-bodied but not voluptuous – good spine of acidity and citrus giving a crackle to the softness of the Viognier. Good stuff. (TC)
Our newest project, the Albarino was recommended and on the reds she featured…
Laurent Miquel, Bardou Grande Cuvée 2012 St-Chinian: 17/20
Produced from a single Syrah block (Bardou), aged in 55% new and 45% old French oak barrels
Musky perfume. Plush and very intense fruit that’s in the tight clasp of emphatic, dramatic tannins. Boudoir-jewelled and indulgent. But not hot, far from flabby, and far from over-extracted. Miquel manages to walk a very fine tightrope here with an extravagant wine that doesn’t cross any lines. Reverberating finish. I’m not sure this is particularly St-Chinian in character, but it’s an impressive wine. (TC) 13.5%; Drink 2016-2023
