Laurent produces his Syrah based single vineyard Faugères from a selected block of mature vines at a reputed family-owned estate. The vineyard benefits from a south facing orientation and naturally dry conditions that require minimal chemical treatments. Aged in French oak barrels (both new and 2nd use) the wine shows opulence and depth yet has mineral character so typical of wines from the schistes (a sort of slate) soils in the Faugères.

Tasting notes:

Intense Inky purple robe. The nose displays licorice, stewed plums and spices. The palate is intense and full with multiple layers of flavour dominated by robust fruit, coffee and mocha. It shows firm though well integrated tannins. An impressive character-filled red that can be drunk now or cellared successfully for up to 10 years.
