We are the largest private producer in the appellation and are the Languedoc specialists for Syrah and Viognier.

Our mission is to create the ultimate St. Chinian wines, which epitomise the character and complexity of the terroir. Our philosophy is simple: only superior grapes can go on to create the ultimate wines This philosophy is clearly supported in everything we do here at the Château: Planting of the appropriate vines (Henri commenced planting of Syrah over 35 years ago and we are now privileged to have some of the oldest syrah vines in the region) top class vineyard maintenance using natural methods, ensuring very low yields on all our vines, scrupulous attention to detail at harvest-time
and individual vinification of each of our 92 parcels according to the fruit characteristics. We innovate and experiment at every vintage and employ a team of winemakers with international experience.

We passionately believe that the marriage of poor stony soils and old vines gives the wines an unparalleled ‘typicité’ and depth with suppleness, firm structure and a certain finesse.Each wine produced at Cazal-Viel expresses this passion.
